Barmer Thar Festival - An Introduction

       Barmer is famous for its Thar festival, which is organised by the district administration and the district tourism department every year. It is organised to attract tourists from all across the country. The festival is organized to display the local art and craft tradition of Barmer. The trend of the Thar festival started in the year 1986 in order to increase the tourism potential of the district. The festival lasts for three days and includes cultural events like folk dances, folk music concerts and crafts exhibition.

There is another very important festival which is held in Barmer. It is the Cattle Fair which is organised every year in Tilwara village.

The village is located on the banks of River Luni. The cattle fair lasts for 15 days and is held for the local people as well as for the outsiders.
